This is an excellent place for couples, and families, with organised activities—Bush walks, game drives, canoeing, boat ride on the lake— at just about the right pace.There are also Segway and clay-pigeon shooting offsite. Or, you can lounge by the pool or on the patio of your rondavel, while the staff arrange activities such as treasure hunts, marshmallow braais or stalk the lantern for the young ones. Keep in mind that It gets busy over the weekend, but weekdays are ideal if you don't like crowds. The accommodation is super comfortable, and rondavels include showers, bar fridge, and tea or coffee-making facilities. There are also a spa, and facilities for business meetings. I haven't come across such enthusiastic, professional and helpful staff in a long time! From the game rangers (Leo is top-notch, but so too are Jordan, Kelvin and Barrie that we also interacted with), to waitrons Charlotte and Cynthia, cook Marilyn, and chef Sello who went out of his way to prepare lactose-free dishes for me. All Covid-19 protocols are strictly adhered to. The resort is 90 minutes from Pretoria and just over 2hrs from Johannesburg. I can't wait for my next visit.
